The iPhone and iPad Blog by Simon

What if your iPhone could tell you how well you’re driving?

When Apple first released it along with debuting iOS in 2007, we could only imagine such a thing, but iOS app development community has come a long way since, releasing apps that could depict how well you’re driving.

Driving Curve is one such application. It lets you know what your driving style is and also judges your behavior while driving. The app also gives you a score and tells you what you’ve accomplished with your current driving behavior.

How to use Driving Curve for iOS 7

After downloading and installing the app on your iPhone, start it on your dashboard. Driving well will give you a good score. It translates into accelerating too abruptly, taking smoother corners and avoid breaking all of a sudden.

Launching the app gives you the option to start recording how you drive quickly, while giving you time to setup a profile. Tapping the ‘more options’ button at the top left of the interface and after that, the settings button, lets you edit your profile, and you can also select units for measuring speed using the same menu. The profile button in the options bar also gives you an overview of your behavior and some other statistics.

You can set up your phone on the dashboard and then let the app do its job. It will monitor your speed and report it at frequent intervals. You can also pause the application and if you need to stop the car at any moment.

The app presents your results, which show how far you’re traveling, the duration of a trip and how much you score. It also tells you how many times you’ve been breaking hard or speeding up sudden. Swiping up from the bottom of the screen will let you view additional statistics. Lastly, you also receive awards based on your driving behavior.

Bottom line

Driving Curve is a new concept that could improve your current driving skills, and update you how you’re doing against other drivers (in the family, among your peers etc.).

You can download Driving Curve free of cost from the App Store. It works on iOS 7 and above. Let us know your experience if you give it a try.
