There are many who feel that the iPhone 5c will be axed later this year when the iPhone 6 is released. They also feel that this model was a flop and of course with Apple remaining tight-lipped about the sales of this budget handset, we are inclined to believe the rumors. A new document leaked from O2 in Germany suggests however that there may be life left in this model. The document suggests that an 8Gb model is going to be released with a cheaper price point.
In the months leading up to the release of this model we constantly heard the phrase low-cost being mentioned. It turned out, that the iPhone 5c was just a rebranded, re-housed iPhone 5. It did hit the market at a lower cost but the pricing was still terrible and too high for a lot of people. The execution of the iPhone 5c has been slated by analysts, and with many reports indicating that two new iPhones will be released later this year, it looks like the iPhone 5c will get the chop.
The leaked report from Germany seems to imply that Apple wants to make one last push with this model opting for the familiar tactic of releasing an 8Gb model for a cheaper retail price. This new model is going to be the cheapest current generation iPhone to date and it will show whether the consumer market will bite or not. The 8GB iPhone 5c will apparently retail at €60 less than the 16GB model and this is a good saving. We're not sure where this device will release but we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
