Bertrand Serlet’s UpThere startup hiring Apple engineers, getting Google funded

Upthere, the cloud-focused company created by former Apple employees, including former SVP of Software engineering Bertrand Serlet, has been hiring a number of Apple veterans to work on their first product. Additionally, Upthere has raised money from Google Ventures. Several of the startup's employees have come from cloud service divisions within Apple. This includes some who worked on the iTunes and Mac App Stores, as well as iCloud. Upthere has also recruited former Apple interface designers, according to Business Insider:

In the last quarter of 2013, Upthere hired two user interface designers who worked at Apple from 2009 to 2013. Timm Michaud worked on the user interface team for Apple's Online Store, preparing the site for the introduction of new products and developed community feedback features.
