Christian Bale allegedly favored by David Fincher play Steve Jobs in the Aaron Sorkin-penned biopic. And...?

Christian Bale, the man who brought Batman to live for Christopher Nolan and Patrick Bateman for American Psycho is now rumored to be director by David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network)'s top choice to play Steve Jobs in the Sony biopic being written by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network). Fincher, however, hasn't signed on to Direct the Steve Jobs movie yet, so how much this matters, if at all, is unclear. Jeff Sneider, writing for The Wrap:

Oscar winner Christian Bale is David Fincher's choice to play Steve Jobs in the untitled movie that Aaron Sorkin has written for Sony, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

The gist is that if Sony wants Fincher, Fincher wants Bale. There's many a slip twixt the rumor and the wrap, however, so take this for exactly what Hollywood negotiations are usually worth.

Sorkin and Fincher worked well together on the Social Network. Could that team up, and Bale equal parts Batman, American Psycho, and The Prestige, pull off Steve Jobs though?
