Winocm Releases Tool For iPhone and iPad Allowing Dual Boot of iOS 7 and iOS 6

When Winocm showed everyone how he could dual boot in his recent videos, he gave us all hope and today he has gone a step further and released a tool-set that will allow those interested to try their hand at booting different firmware versions on the same device. We should point out though, that these utilities should probably only be used for those of you that have some knowledge when it comes to hacking.

Winocm got a lot of attention over the weekend and it looks like he has washed his hands of the entire development noting that the tools are probably cr*p and that no support or warranty will be give. While a lot of iOS tinkerers are keen to make progress with regards to dual and triple booting, Winocm is not as enthusiastic, but with these tools now out in the open, there is the potential for anyone to latch onto them and improve what has already been done.

This isn't the first time that Winocm has demonstrated more than one version of iOS installed on an iDevice at any given time, but having showcased iOS 5.1, iOS 6.1.3 and iOS 7.0.6 running triple boot on his iPad last week, he was inundated with messages from Twitter followers who were curious about the tools and methods used and whether they would ever get their hands on them. Today we can say that the tools have arrived but the method used remains scarce. We would recommend that these should only be used if you have some prior knowledge because Winocm isn't offering any guarantees so anything you do is at your own risk. Winocm's GitHub contains everything you need to get started so if you feel brave then go ahead and see if you can get multiple versions of iOS running on your device.
