The iPhone and iPad Blog by Simon

Ever wanted to create powerful presentations directly from your iPhone? Well then, you’ve missed out on a lot (at least I have) because you haven’t downloaded Keynote .

It’s an app that enables you to create presentations from scratch from any of the given templates. Also, you can edit presentations saved to the iCloud. The app also has options to create and edit slides, edit transitions and animations, as well as insert tables, graphs and charts to get your message across.

How to use Keynote for iPhone

After installing the app on your device, you can navigate between slides, and tap the button for editing objects in the slides. You get options to add new objects such as graphs, photos and shapes, among other sharing options and tools. The plus-sign button at the bottom right allows you to add new slides to the presentation.

You get over 30 themes to apply to your presentations, sprucing up everything from graphic focused slides to bulleted lists. Each theme features pre-made slides that complement the overall aesthetic while enabling you to double-tap on placeholders to add images and texts of your own.

The app also gives you the ability to create motion with objects in the slides through transitions and animation. Users can touch an object, such as text or an image, and choose the Animate button form the pop-up menu. The new set of buttons allow you to select build out or build in animations. You can choose from 24 different animations.

To transition between slides, touch a slide in the left navigation area and choose Transition from the pop-up menu. There are 30 transition options available, including one called Magic Move that uses an image or object in one slide, then uses a zoom animation to place the same image or object in the next slide. This particular animation has a cool effect on your presentations and enable you to drive attention to a particular object.

This app also lets you share your presentations via AirDrop with anyone nearby. And there also an option to export the presentation to PDF of Microsoft PowerPoint. Furthermore, presentations can be printed via a wireless printer using AirPrint.

Final thoughts

This app will be a great addition to your presentation making app arsenal and will also enable you to present on an HDTV via video mirroring. The user can also review slides on the device using Presenter Display.

You can download Keynote for iOS 8 for $99 from the App Store. Let us know your thoughts if you give it a try.
