Mavericks update improves FaceTime, Mail and more - come and get it!

Apple on Tuesday released OS X Mavericks 10.9.2, which is now available for download through the Software Update tool. Improvements include changes to Mail, FaceTime, SMB2 and more.

Changes in the new release include improvements to FaceTime, with the ability to accept FaceTime audio-only calls and call waiting support. You can now block iMessages from individual senders, as well.

Mail gets improvements in this release, including improved unread message accuracy and "an issue that prevented Mail from receiving new messages from certain providers."

Safari AutoFill compatibility has been improved, audio distortion on certain Macs has been fixed, and reliability has been improved when connecting to file servers using the SMB2 protocol. Other fixes include improvements to VPN connections and improved VoiceOver navigation in Mail and Finder.

To download and install 10.9.2, follow these instructions:

  1. Click on the menu.

  2. Select Software Update...

  3. Click the Update button.

Apple will post information about this update to its web site, though that link was not active as this article was posted.
