Apple continues brand dominance Posted: 09 Oct 2014 02:51 PM PDT It was the first time a tech company had ever claimed the accolade as Cupertino usurped Coca-Cola, and Apple has doubled up by retaining the crown this year. The iPhone maker is way out in front too with a brand value of $118.9 billion, a rise of 21% from last year. Interbrand cited Apple's continued product brilliance and introduction of market leading devices and services such as new iPhones, Apple Pay, and the Apple Watch.
Tech on the whole does well in the list with Google passing Coca-Cola into second place with a brand value of $107.4 billion, hardly surprising considering how many pies Google has its fingers in. However, Mountain View's success means this is the first time that two brands on the list have a worth of over $100 million. Other tech companies doing well were IBM and Microsoft with $72.2 billion and $61.2 billion respectively. As for Samsung, as we know the company slips some way behind Apple in these matters and was way down in seventh place, which admittedly was an improvement of one position from last year. Well done Apple, once again proving that no one in the industry does it quite like this. |
Apple occupies space in top 5 PC vendors says IDC Posted: 09 Oct 2014 01:23 PM PDT Market research giant the International Data Corporation (IDC) sent out the list today revealing Apple has secured 6.3% of the market share with 4.9 million units sold through the latest quarter. Cupertino's market share has grown 9% year on year as the company's success in this market continues. Chinese brand Lenovo still occupies top spot with 20% of the market, an 11.2% growth off 15.7 million units sold through the period. HP, after recently announcing it is annexing its PC business took second place with 13.3%, a 5.1% growth off 14.7 million units. The top five as a whole reflects that the PC market rebounded through the last quarter with Dell in third place with a 9.7% growth and Acer in fourth with an 11.4% bump. In the United States Apple did even better on home soil. The company moved up into third place domestically with a 13% share of the market and sales of 2.26 million units. US rivals Dell and HP remained in control of that particular market, with number one global vendor Lenovo coming in fourth place. |
