Learn about the iCloud storage upgrades available to you, how to upgrade or downgrade your storage, and how to view or change your payment information.
When you sign up for iCloud, you automatically get 5 GB of free storage for Backup, Documents, and Mail. Your purchased music, movies, apps, books, TV shows, and photo streams don’t count against that free storage. If you need more storage space, you can:
- Upgrade to a larger 10 GB, 20 GB, or 50 GB storage plan from your iOS device, Mac, or Windows PC. Learn about Cloud storage upgrade pricing.
- Reduce the amount of iCloud storage you’re using. Learn how to manage your iCloud storage.
Upgrade your iCloud plan
You can purchase a higher-tier storage plan to replace your previous plan (for example, a 20 GB plan to replace a 10 GB plan). Your existing storage plan will be canceled, and you'll be charged the prorated cost for the upgrade (the cost of the higher-tier plan minus the prorated cost of the previous plan). The new storage plan is then applied to your account and the annual payment date updated to reflect the purchase date for the new plan. You'll be notified by email each year about 30 days before the annual payment for your storage plan is due. Your storage upgrade is billed every year unless you cancel by downgrading your storage plan.
