Apple has released iOS 8.1.1 and first impressions are great. We have better battery life, iCloud Drive, extension ordering and so much more. In today's post we want to share our thoughts on this new firmware update and let you know what to expect. Before we do that, we have to mention that if you want the jailbreak, do not update your firmware because Apple has patched Pangu8 in iOS 8.1.1.
The new iOS 8.1.1 is a really great update and all those problems that people were having with iCloud Drive has been solved. This means no more hit and miss syncing. If you have no desire to jailbreak your device then by all means, go ahead and update to iOS 8.1.1. The fix to the iCloud Drive alone is enough to make it worth it. Asides from this fix, there is a lot more going on with iOS 8.1.1. The problem with share and action extensions has also been fixed and there is no more scrolling to the far right just to clip something to Evernote or to enter a password with 1Password Magic.
Another great thing with this update is battery life on the iPhone 6. Whatever happened with this update, the battery life has been improved on the iPhone 6. You can now multitask, play games, edit images and so much more without having to worry about your battery dying. We tested it here and putting it on charge each night has been enough to see us through the day without having to plug it back in. There are a lot more little tweaks and fixes going on in iOS 8.1.1 and as soon as we have gone through them all or if we find anything else interesting we will be sure to let you know.
We do have to mention once more, that if you are planning on jailbreaking or you are already using the Pangu8 untethered jailbreak for iPhone then under no circumstances should you upgrade to iOS 8.1.1. Apple has patched the exploit that allowed Pangu8 to work so if you do upgrade you will lose your jailbreak and we have no idea when a new one will become available.
