The iPhone and iPad Blog by Simon

You may already be familiar with Facetune, the photo editing app that lets you portraits appear a lot better by letting you use tools to fix up hairstyle, apply makeup, improve skin texture, blur out the background, and do more.

The developers of the same app have lately released Enlight . This is a new app offering that builds on the image processing technology that was introduced in Facetune.

The app offers features that are hard to resist; from basic to complex, there’s possibility of using creative options such as curves, layers, masks, and even noise reduction.

How to use Enlight for iOS

The app lays down features in a list for users to navigate easily. Pictures can be imported from within the library, or a new one can be taken from within the app. Any of the image can be touched, or you can bring out the slide-out menu from the button in the top right.

The slide-out menu will include headings like Tools, Brushes, Image, Filters, Canvas, etc. When the user selects one, there are more categories presented. The button at the top of for each tool gives an explanation of how it is used.

The camera roll is present at the bottom of the screen, which can be swiped horizontally for selecting an image. Swiping up gives a full-screen view of the photo and there is even a button for Albums, just like the one in the iPhone photo library. The top of the screen includes buttons for app settings, a share button, and button to launch iPhone camera, and a slide-out menu button.

Enlight has several features that are present in a photo editor including color correction with curves, cropping, filters, the ability to add frames and text, and a lot more. However, there are features that you don’t usually find in other apps. For example, the user can touch the Canvas button to access the option to skew or crop a photo.

There’s another feature titled ‘Refit': it provides users the option to freeze the subject in the image in place, and then move other objects of the image closer so that all fits inside the image. This is something different from other apps.

Moreover, the app has features for Tilt Shift images for the miniaturized look. Images can be turned into sketches or artistic paintings with variations to select from. The user can add drop shadows, type text in multiple different fonts, and even blend the text in the background. Lastly, there is a meme feature for creating images with messages on top and bottom.

Final thoughts

With the app, you’ll get all the new features that have been mentioned above, as well as urban, sketch, and painting effects that can be used to adjust lightning, canvas textures, and a lot more.

You can download Enlight for $3.99 from the App Store. It works on iOS 8.1 and above. Let us know if you give it a try and feel free to leave comments.
