Facebook introduces Paper for iPhone, combining news and your friends from February 3

Having been previously rumored, Facebook has today introduced its own take on a news app; Paper. Since this is a Facebook product, there's a healthy dose of your friends in there, with Paper first opening up on your Facebook News Feed. But – thankfully – there's more to it than that, and Paper will be coming to iPhone on February 3.

Your Paper is made of stories and themed sections, so you can follow your favorite interests. The first section in Paper is your Facebook News Feed, where you’ll enjoy inspiring new designs for photos, videos, and longer written posts. You can customize Paper with a choice of more than a dozen other sections about various themes and topics—from photography and sports to food, science and design. Each section includes a rich mix of content from emerging voices and well-known publications.

From the video and the early press images we can see, Paper looks to be a beautifully designed application. There are a few hints of Flipboard in there for sure, but all-in-all we're looking forward to trying it out. There aren't exactly a shortage of apps to deliver us our own flavor of news, so it's going to be interesting to see how Facebook thinks it can do it better.
