We all know that when it comes to customizability, Apple’s iOS falls short. In their eyes, it is not something that we should all be able to do. They also feel that this isn’t a bad thing either and in some areas we tend to agree. In some others though, a little more flexibility would really come in handy.
Today we want to tell you how you can customize the stock Apple emojis on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Something as simple as changing the default emojis that are available via the stock Apple keyboard may seem like a great idea but, Apple won’t actually allow you to do this. You could use a third party keyboard which is something that Apple does allow, but if you want to make changes to the stock keyboard that come with your device, you are going to need to be jailbroken. Once jailbroken, adding new emojis is easy to do and to help you out we have a simple guide below.
In fact, it is so simple to do that all you need is one jailbreak app and the emoji bundle of your choice. Make sure that your iOS device is jailbroken because if not you won’t be able to do this. You can jailbreak up to iOS 8.4 using TaiG or PP jailbreaks and there are plenty of tutorials that will show you how to do just this.
The first thing you will need to do is launch Cydia and search for BytaFont 2. You are going to need to install this free tweak before you can do anything else. Once installed and your device has resprung, re-launch Cydia and search for “Emoji”. If you are running iOS 8.4, make sure that you choose the packages that have a (D) marking with their name. Once you have chosen the package that you would like to do you can just install it from Cydia. Once downloaded, launch BytaFont2 and tap on the “swap mode” button at the bottom. Now just hit the emoji button and select the package that you want to enable. Your iOS device will respring again.
After this just launch any app that will bring up your keyboard and switch to the emoji keyword. You should now be able to see all your new emojis where the stock Apple ones usually are. If you want to use a different package that you have also downloaded all you have to do is open BytaFont2 again and go into the “swap mode” and select the new package.
If you are a fan of emojis and you have a jailbroken iOS device, this is a great way for you to add even more fun to your keyboard. Be sure to let us know in the comments if you find some cool new emojis too.
