Apple lawyers change focus from Samsung to lobby for IP issues

Apple has reportedly hired the firm that represented it in its trials with Samsung to now fight on its behalf in Washington D.C.. Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr will now be responsible for lobbying the government on intellectual property issues in the tech industry for Apple.

The firm will be added to a sizable list of lobbying firms that Apple currently employs in addition to its own in-house lobbyists. So far this year, the Cupertino-based company has spent roughly $3 million on its lobbying efforts across a wide variety of topics.

It will be interesting to see exactly what comes out of this, as it is unknown which specific subjects Apple will have the firm will lobby for. Topics that they currently pursue include everything from international taxes to medical devices.
