With iOS 8, Apple reworked how its iOS Camera app stores photos. If you liked it the way it was, MyRoll (free, universal) can help. It restores your Camera Roll, putting your photos back they way you had them before iOS 8.
MyRoll puts everything in one place, but preserves your various albums too. You can designate certain shots as favorites, and delta things you don't want, which will also delta them from the stock Apple albums. Your photos (and videos) are organized by 'moments', and any photos or collection can be easily shared with others via Facebook, email, SMS or Twitter.
The app claims to use machine learning to try and figure out which photos are most important to you, and highlight them.
MyRoll doesn't copy or store your photos and video, but Moments you specifically choose are uploaded to MyRoll servers so you can share them, but you can share them on your own as simple attachments if you prefer. The developers claim the MyRoll app gets smarter over time as it sees what photos you like.
The app worked as expected. It doesn't interfere with Apple's own photo organization, it just lets you run the MyRoll app and have an alternative. I tried sharing photos and that worked without glitches.
Apple probably had some good reasons for changing the way photos are sorted under iOS 8, but if you really don't want to change, MyRoll is a good way to return to the old way of organizing, and it has some nice feature additions that will enhance sharing of your photos and videos.
MyRoll requires iOS 8 or later, so it's not something you can run if you haven't upgraded. It's universal, so you can run it on your iPad, iPod touch or iPhone at full resolution.
