The iPhone and iPad Blog by Simon

How many times have you found it daunting to coordinate with a friend or college fellow in a different time zone?

Yes, it’s not easy for two people in different time zones to be in the same slot, but Miranda aims to change all that.

It’s an iOS app that helps you find time in different time zones with respect to your own schedule. You can add an event to the calendar knowing what time a meeting or an event starts for you and when it starts for the individual in the other time zone.

How to use Miranda for iOS

Open the app and let it use your current location; it will add the city you reside in automatically. Tap ‘Add city’ to add other cities.

Once the cities have been added, move the dial on the right to decrease or increase the time in your time zone. While you do this, the app will adjust other cities accordingly. For a more precise control over the time, hold the wheel for a while till it expands, before you adjust the time.

If you prefer the 12-hour format instead of the 24-hour one, swipe down on ‘add city’ to see more setting. You can also change the theme to auto color which adjusts depending on whether it is daytime or nighttime in your current location.

You can set it to use the night or day theme and ignore the current day time in your city. In the Settings, you can also switch off the 24-time format and enable a detailed look at the time, which also tells you the current date and when you’re moving towards a previous day or a new one.

Once you’re configured the time, swipe down and select Save As. Then copy the time and use it as an event in the Calendar app, or email the time. Copying copies the time, the city, and the data in each city to your clipboard.

Final thoughts

Miranda offers one of the most convenient and manageable ways to make sure that an event or meeting with participants in multiple time zones goes smoothly. It frees you from the task of calculating the time difference. It works on iOS 7 and above and can be downloaded free of charge from this direct iTunes link. Let us know if you give it a try.
