Interesting infographic breaks down entire iPhone 6 production process Posted: 17 Sep 2014 03:00 PM PDT There is a misconception that Apple and indeed other companies use Chinese manufacturing plants because the workforce is cheaper and building products in the country is more cost effective. However, it would only take an extra $4 per iPhone 6 for Cupertino to build the device in it US homeland. However, the cost of setting up the production lines and mobilizing the workforce would cost in the billions, then it is doubtful a US work base would work with the same commitment as their Chinese counterparts. For example, when Steve Jobs decided on a whim to give the original iPhone a glass screen at the last minute, the Chinese manufacturer moved in workers and provided them with dormitories until the work was done. Apple's ethics and practices are also highlighted in the infographic, revealing that Apple seems to be working to international standards in that respect. One of the other key points of the image is just how many jobs Apple creates for its own employees and for other companies. Arch rival Samsung is an interesting case in point, with the Korean company able to create jobs in the US based on Apple's orders for Samsung made chips. It is a similar story with LG, with that company being Apple's chief supplier of screen technology. Thanks to CompareCamp.com for providing the infographic.
